"With support from Knight Foundation and our media partners, Mercer will be able to offer the nation's best preparation for future journalists—one that is both skilled in new media and grounded in the liberal arts.  I am also excited because many other Mercer students will be able to take courses through the collaboration and understand the importance of journalism in building community and preserving democratic institutions."
Dr. Lake Lambert, Dean of Mercer’s College of Liberal Arts

Information for the Community

The Collaborative represents a tremendous opportunity for Central Georgia residents. Working together, students, faculty and editorial staff will seek community input to raise issues, examine them, and put them into context. The area’s leading media outlets — while retaining their editorial independence — will share their resources, talents and expertise with those of Mercer, its faculty and students. This Collaborative will focus on improving the quality of life in the Central Georgia community. Citizens will not simply get reporting. You – whether a resident, a business person or a community leader, will be engaged in finding solutions and bringing about progress through journalism that makes you think, and ultimately, encourages you to act.
